A Spinning Lecture on Choreomaniacs
The project is a co-production between Fonds Darstellende Künste and Hessisches Staatsballett/Tanzplattform Rhein Main.
Frau Troffea, The One Who Turns refers to the most probably invented figure who according to the pedantic writings by Paracelsus was the first person to start the viral dancing plague of 1518 in Strasbourg. Maybe an act of protest, maybe a physical expression that reflects the crises and traumata of these times.
With the working Titel 'A Spinning Lecture on Choreomaniacs, Cyborgs and Other Monsters' Hannah has developed a dance video on the act of spinning as a dance between order and disorder, between stability and instability, control and vertigo. The video is a collection of voices from international dance artists from diverse backgrounds (contemporary dance, folk dances, voguing and ballroom culture, breakdance) exploring their intentions behind their dance, specifically zooming into their motivations, sensations and associations to the act of spinning and turning.
